THE BOOKSELLER
Honoured to have had The Bookseller cover the announcement of my upcoming second memoir. Entitled Love, Wine, And Other Highs, the book is due for release in 2022.
Little A acquires Rae's 'cathartic, comforting and hopeful' second memoir
Little A, an imprint of Amazon Publishing, has acquired Love, Wine, And Other Highs, a memoir from journalist and writer Lauren Rae.
World English language rights were acquired from Silé Edwards at Mushens Entertainment, with publication slated for 2022.
Love, Wine, And Other Highs will follow Rae through the misadventures and scrapes of her twenties: a turbulent love life, failed journalism career, and floundering finances, shining a light on the "reassuringly universal yet highly specific truths of being a Black British millennial".
Rae self-published her first memoir, I’m Not a Writer, in 2019. Love, Wine, And Other Highs will expand on Rae’s original work and offer more "righteous honesty and spontaneous delight".
Rae said: "With my new memoir, I was determined to create a piece of work that evoked Black joy, captured the nostalgia of being a teen in the noughties, as well my struggles of being a creative in a creative industry that doesn’t champion you. I’m so pleased this story has found its home with Little A and Amazon Publishing."
Victoria Haslam, editor, commented: "Lauren effortlessly distills the experiences of the 20-something millennial generation—reading her is so cathartic, comforting, and hopeful. We are thrilled to introduce this very special book to readers."
Rae grew up in the UK and now lives in Germany. Her journalism has been featured in Stylist, Bustle, Refinery29, and Elle.
